Derec Roache
| Growing up in Burlington, NC he painted and sold his first portrait commission at the age of 14. He continued his
art studies at Averett College in Danville, VA. in the late 70's. After graduation from Randolph Community College in 1985, he began his work in murals. Painting on such a large scale subtly refined his impressionistic style with greater vibrancy and romanticism. Using a wide range of influences, as well as his own unique personal insights, his work exhibits a sometimes playful, yet very romantic study in contrast and subject matter. His large, almost surrealistic style of still life painting exhibits the same mysterious beauty in the contrasts of both color and light, while at the same time, it appears both soft and serene. Derec currently resides in Greensboro, NC with is wife Dereen and his black Labrador, Angus. |
